_____________

IIE Global E3 continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19. As policies are put in place and students’ programs are affected, home and host institutions are asked to inform Global E3 staff at GE3@iie.org. Global E3 will not issue a suspension of programs; instead, Global E3 policies are dependent on home and host institution policies at this time.

 Spring 2020

Global E3 will continue to inform all affected students and their advisors as information comes available.  Member institutions are continuing to send IIE Global E3 staff the details of their new policies and potential closures.  We encourage you to let us know any changes that are made at your institution that could affect outbound and inbound students through the Global E3 program.

If Spring 2020 students wish to seek alternate placements OR if they wish to seek a new placement over Fall / Academic Year 2020-21, their home institution advisors should contact Global E3 staff at GE3@iie.org right away.

Global E3 will continue to track all student status changes; we understand if student exchange balances cannot yet be determined (i.e. if a student returns early from a program but completed some coursework).  IIE Global E3 staff will address all balance questions or issues as they arise or over the summer.

Fall / Academic Year 2020-21

We have now moved beyond the application deadline of March 2, and Global E3 is currently proceeding as normal with all placements for Fall and AY 2020-21. We are providing as much flexibility as possible, since we understand that students are facing various difficulties, such as inability to take TOEFL/IELTS due to closures, inability to obtain letters of recommendation due to faculty office closures, etc.

Global E3 appreciates all flexibility that our members are able to provide in their own processes during this time. The situation is ever-changing, and more institutions will likely release details of Fall 2020 impact as we near the next semester, if applicable.

What do GE3 advisors need to do?

Email Global E3 staff at GE3@iie.org regarding any institutional policies that affect GE3 inbound AND outbound students’ programs (current or future).

What do GE3 students need to do?

Students and advisors are encouraged to follow the latest recommendations from local health officials, governments, and host institutions. Additional information can be found through the World Health Organization, the Center for Disease Control, and the U.S. Department of State.
